Description: | Biomedical Engineering is an emerging interdisciplinary specialty in the engineering profession. Like every field of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering applies the discoveries of science to the design and creation of things that are safe, reliable and practical. Biomedical engineers study, design, develop and evaluate biological and medical systems and products such as artificial organs, prostheses, medical instruments and information systems. The field bridges the medical and engineering disciplines. The increasing use of sophisticated engineering technology in medical therapy and diagnostics is an important driver of the growing demand for biomedical engineers.
One of the attractive features of this program is the wide course selection. Graduates can pursue careers in a variety of health related fields: bioinstrumentation, biomechanics, clinical engineering, medical imaging, rehabilitation engineering, regenerative medicine, and systems physiology. In addition to pursuing a career in industry, graduate training in biomedical engineering or application to medical school is possible. |
