|Description:||Operations Management professionals provide a critical function for organizations, analyzing data and behaviour to optimize processes, manage resources, and improve profitability and service. In studying Operations Management, you’ll learn to use computer models, mathematics, process analysis, and business analytics to interpret data and make business decisions. You’ll also develop analytical and problem solving skills that are useful in a wide variety of everyday situations, learning to ask how, why, and why not, to find the most efficient answers to seemingly complicated questions.
The Alberta School of Business offers one of the largest BCom programs in Canada, with five different degree types, 16 majors, and many opportunities for specialization and work experience, including student clubs, business incubators, case competitions, study abroad programs, and more. |Additional Admission Requirements:||
Applicants must first be granted admission into the UofA BCom program before they may apply to Co-op. Applicants may only be considered for the Co-op program if they have no more than *75ucw completed towards their Bachelor of Commerce Degree by August 31st, 2018. After-Degree Co-op applicants are only eligible to apply for the Co-op program if they have at least 15 courses (*45ucw) remaining in their program by August 31st, 2018. The first 150 applicants who meet the criteria for their major will be granted admission to the Co-op program. Additional applications (up to 50) will be considered on a case by case basis. Offers of admission are subject to quota limits for each major. For example, a maximum of 60 Accounting majors and 60 Finance majors will be accepted. International students may be required to complete an intake interview before being granted admission. Applicants must: present a GPA of 2.8 or higher in their most recent academic year of study that comprised a minimum of *24ucw (i.e., 4 courses per term during the regular academic year). All applicants are expected to present a minimum of 650 hours of work experience within the past 2 years. For students applying to the September 2018 intake, the work experience hours calculation only includes work experience gained between February 1, 2016 through to August 31, 2018. This work need not be business related and may include fields such as retail, hospitality, labour etc… We strongly encourage all Co-op applicants to participate in Volunteer or Extra-Curricular activities in order to increase competitiveness in securing a position.
