Description: In Saskatchewan, the minimum requirement for new teachers is a Bachelor of Education degree. Applicants wishing to complete a Bachelor of Indigenous Education can work towards the four-year degree at Parkland College in partnership with First Nations University of Canada. A new cohort will be starting in both Fort Qu’Appelle and Yorkton in September 2016.

Students applying to the program should apply to the University of Regina for entrance into the U of R Faculty of Arts (Yorkton location) or the First Nations University Faculty of Arts (Fort Qu’Appelle location). Applications to the Indigenous Education program will be made in the spring of 2017, and the Education portion of the degree program will start in September 2017 (both locations).

Admission Requirements

  • 2 of  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade12 Mathematics  or  Grade12 Science 

Applicants must possess Grade 12 with English A30 & B30; one approved 30 level math or science; one approved 30 level language, social science or fine arts class; one additional 30 level approved course. Opportunities for mature students without grade 12 are also available.

Test Scores:

  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]

All academic programs require IELTS – Academic 6.5 overall (no bands lower than 5.0).
