|Description:||The Language Teaching and Learning programs offered by the Department of Language Studies at UTM are specially designed to provide a comprehensive study of how languages are taught and learned, whether in a second or foreign language context. The programs develop expertise in the areas of pedagogy and skills development, psycholinguistics and language acquisition, bilingualism and multilingualism, sociolinguistics and cross-cultural communication, and teaching and learning through theatre, drama, and culture. Certain courses focus on the teaching and learning of particular languages, while others are not language specific.
The programs in Language Teaching and Learning provide a solid foundation for students who intend to continue their studies at the graduate level in education, apply to teacher education programs/teachers colleges, complete a TESOL certificate or other related certificate, or for those students who intend to enter the workforce or continue their academic studies in fields that involve employee-training and other forms of workplace education.
