Description: The Bachelor of Arts in English is designed to enable students to explore many aspects of English studies. The English program offers courses in composition, creative writing, film, literature, and literary theory. Mount Royal University offers students the option of pursuing either a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a Bachelor of Arts with honours in English. This page provides information specific to the honours in English stream.

The Bachelor of Arts honours in English is intended for students who have a strong interest in literature and who wish to pursue more specialized degree than the English major. In particular, students whose aspirations involve graduate study are encouraged to consider the Honours Program.

  •  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade12 Applied Mathematics  or  Grade12 Pure Mathematics 

Applicants are required to have English Language Arts 30-1 – minimum grade 60%, and Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2 or a second language at the 30 level – minimum grade 50%.

Test Scores:

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 83]

All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency if their primary or first language (meaning the main language learned and used as a child) is not English.
