Description: Our cultural world is composed of language, and so to study English is to engage with the world head-on. Investigate the relationship between a text and its author, its audience, and the history and politics surrounding it. You can pursue numerous degrees, joint majors or other opportunities, such as our field school in France. The English program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a major, a minor, and certificates in creative writing and in writing and rhetoric.
