Degree: Bachelor
Field of Study: English Language and Literature, General
Cultural Studies/Critical Theory and Analysis
Description: English and Cultural Studies at Huron allows students to study the most valued literature in English as well as cultural works that lie beyond traditionally celebrated literature: those, for instance, from popular culture such as young adult fiction, digital writing, graphic novels, lyrics, television, comic books, and film. Students will also be provided with the opportunity to explore what constitutes “English” literature since we will examine global literatures and narratives in the English language alongside those from the U.K., Ireland, and North America.

Students are exposed to a range of genres and periods and develop skills in careful reading and effective writing as they develop as critically-conscious readers and participants in civil society.
