Description: The English program at Ambrose combines traditional literary studies with contemporary literary theory. It also offers unique courses that foreground the ways in which the entire program integrates faith and learning. This program will help you to: Cover foundational periods, movements, and authors as well as contemporary expressions of literature; Form a strong foundation in literature, literary theory, and writing; Study British, Canadian, American, and world literatures; Think critically about literature, language, and culture; Learn to write with judgment, clarity, and imagination. An English degree will set you on the path to graduate school, and it’s also excellent preparation to study law or education.

This program is offered as either a 3-year concentration or a 4-year major.

Applicants must have five grade 12 level courses including English, with a minimum average of 60% on the five courses.

Test Scores:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 560] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7.0] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 83]

All students whose primary language is not English must demonstrate their English proficiency through one of the following: – TOEFL – 560 on paper based version; 83 on internet based – IELTS – Minimum score of 7.0
