|School:||University of Alberta Augustana Faculty|
|Field of Study:||History, General
|Description:||History is one of the oldest and most respected components of a liberal arts education. A student of history becomes a truly well-rounded person. Not only does history involve studying past events, but it looks at the whys and hows of those events. In so doing, it provides the student with knowledge of virtually every other field of study in existence, from the natural sciences to the world of high technology.
History is a fascinating field of study. Well taught and properly studied, history at once amazes and dismays. It offers a light and crazy side yet is essentially a profound and exacting discipline. History offers humankind its only chance to bring a measure of understanding of modern-day problems by suggesting, upon analysis, a causal pattern of social and political behaviour.
