|Description:||We are the products of our collective experiences, and the continual upheaval and development of human society demands that individuals and institutions adapt to new changes. The historian’s obligation is to sharpen our awareness of the mechanics of change and, so far as possible, to explain it.
The Department of History at McMaster offers a broad range of courses, both national and thematic, which will introduce you to the important interactions between great nation states, as well as to significant social themes, stretching across class, race, and gender.

Applicants are required to have at least six Grade 12 U/M level courses, including: ENG4U. SBI4U is recommended for students planning to enter a Cognitive Science of Language program.
Students who have been asked to meet McMaster’s English Language Proficiency requirement must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving the minimum requirements as specified by McMaster: IELTS: 6.5, CAE: 176, PTE: 60, CAEL: 70, MELAB: 85, TOEFL (iBT): 86
