|Description:||Dalhousie has a long tradition of philosophical excellence. Our first president taught philosophy courses here and, over the years, faculty and alumni have blazed trails locally and around the world: founding the Royal Society of Canada, starting the Dalhousie Review, even becoming president of Cornell University.
A recent external review of the department called us, “pound for pound the best in the country.” We are recognized as the strongest philosophy department east of Montreal, with an active, engaged intellectual community both in and out of the classroom.
