Description: Explore multiple aspects of Spanish language, civilizations, and cultures, while gaining a solid understanding of the contemporary Spanish-speaking world. The Spanish and Latin American Studies program at Saint Mary’s is the only one of its kind in Atlantic Canada.

While studying Spanish and Latin American culture, you’ll build your ability to communicate in Spanish and also explore history, tradition, arts, literature, and music. In doing so, you’ll develop communication and critical thinking skills, cultural understanding, and strong research abilities.

Admission Requirements

  •  Grade12 English 

Students entering directly from high school are required to have completed five academic Grade 12 subjects, including English, with an average grade of 70% and no grade below 60%.
Test Scores:

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or CanTEST [min. 4.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80]

If your first language is not English, you must demonstrate that you have the English language skills necessary to be successful in Saint Mary’s University degree programs.
