|Faculty:||Faculty of Science|
|Degree:||Bachelor; Co-op; Honours|
|Field of Study:||Chemistry, General
|Description:||All matter around us – every atom, molecule and ion – is composed of chemicals. Studying chemistry helps us protect our environment and influence people’s daily lives. In 1863, Dalhousie’s first full-time chemistry professor, George Lawson, was one of two chemistry professors in Canada. Today, with 22 professors, 70 graduate students and 3,000 undergraduates taking our courses, we remain one of the strongest university chemistry programs in Canada.
Students who want a challenging program resulting in a broad and in-depth background in Chemistry that includes an independent research experience may want to enroll in an Honours program. Students interested in eventually pursuing graduate studies are particularly encouraged to consider the Honours program.
