|Description:||In the last four decades, Neuroscience has emerged as an exciting, interdisciplinary area of research. Neuroscience integrates psychology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, and other branches of the life sciences to provide comprehensive insights into the structure and function of the brain. Neuroscience is exceptionally well represented at Dalhousie, with faculty members studying the nervous system at molecular, cellular, and behavioural levels. Dalhousie neuroscientists work in both academic and clinical (i.e., hospital) settings, providing students with opportunities to participate in research projects in a range of specializations.
Students who wish to study Neuroscience in conjunction with another subject may wish to pursue a Combined Honours degree program. The other subject may be from any discipline in the Faculty of Science (other than Psychology), the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Computer Science, or the College of Sustainability. Neuroscience may be the primary subject (with a minimum of 45 credit hours beyond the 1000 level), or the secondary subject (30 credit hours).

Applicants are required to have: English 12; Pre-Calculus Math 12 or Calculus 12; and three other acceptable university-preparatory courses at the grade 12 level.
|Additional Admission Requirements:||
Students must apply for admission to Honours programs. Students wishing to enrol in Honours in Neuroscience should consult with the Neuroscience Honours Advisor in January of their third year. Students may not apply for Honours before January of their third year of studies. A detailed description of the Honours application process can be found on the departmental website www.dal.ca/psychandneuro. Admission requirements include: A grade of B or better in NESC 2007.03: Neuroscience Principles and Methods (or equivalent), and a minimum of A- or better in the most recently completed: 18 credit hours of NESC courses (for admission in January of 3rd year) OR 27 credit hours of NESC courses (for admission at end of 3rd year).
