|Description:||Concept before execution. Strategy before style. Solutions that combine powerful language and compelling imagery. This is the philosophy of the Advertising program at OCAD U. Taught by industry professionals, it emphasizes project-focused work and teaching through lectures, presentation and one-on-one, in-class critiques. First, you learn to develop effective strategies to address particular market needs. Importance is placed on process, analysis and the development of creative and challenging solutions. You’ll produce complete advertising campaigns for a broad spectrum of media, including TV, radio, billboards, magazines and the Web, integrating elements such as type, photography, illustration and graphics. Lectures on brand positioning, brand development, market research and pre- and post-production analysis are integral to the curriculum. A mandatory laptop program enhances the learning environment and develops essential skills. As a graduate, you are well prepared for entry- to mid-level jobs in the creative departments of Canada’s leading advertising firms.|

Although the primary criterion for admission to OCAD University’s studio based programs is a portfolio assessment, strong academic skills are essential for overall success.
