Description: Economics studies the many ways in which humankind provides for its livelihood. It is therefore concerned with the production of goods and services, with the income that arises from production, and with the uses to which that income is put in consumption, saving and investment. In the language of the economist, Economics studies the problem of efficiency in the allocation of limited productive resources between the alternative and competing objectives of society, the firm and the individual.
