Description: The Major in Middle East studies is a rich inter-disciplinary program of study which offers students the opportunity to gain knowledge and expertise in the history, culture and politics of the region, its past and present. The program offers students a comprehensive, well rounded and balanced choice of topics for study and investigation, ranging from medieval and modern Islamic and Jewish history and civilization to the fundamentals of the Jewish and Islamic religions, their scriptures, mysticism and philosophy. Students can also take courses on Arabic and Hebrew language and literature as well as examining social, economic and developmental questions through courses on such topics as contemporary politics, globalization and political regimes in the Middle East, gender, and film in the Middle East. The courses are taught by specialists in the field and offered on main campus as well as at King’s University College, Brescia University College, and Huron University College.
