|Description:||Psychologists study behaviour and mental processes including thoughts, emotions, perception and intelligence. They examine a diverse range of topics such as how the brain functions, the process of learning, social interaction, healthy development and improving wellness across diverse social and cultural contexts. They do this by conducting research so that the knowledge gained can contribute to a healthy society and stimulate more research questions.
At Carleton, you will explore all of psychology’s major areas including cognitive, developmental, forensic, health, social, personality and organizational psychology. Specialized topics include attitudes, perception, abnormal behaviour, criminal behaviour and the biological foundations of behaviour. The insights you will gain from studying psychology will serve you throughout your life, in virtually any career. And, if you are interested in a career as a psychologist, our Honours programs prepare you for additional study at the graduate level.
