Program Information

School: Carleton University
Faculty: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
Degree: Bachelor
Field of Study: Women’s Studies
Description: What are women’s issues and how have they changed over time? What social and political realities have women and men faced through the centuries? How do we make our society more responsive to women’s concerns? The Women’s Studies program provides you with a unique and exciting opportunity to examine the diverse ways in which gender shapes our lives and the world around us. This program offers a stimulating, supportive, and culturally inclusive environment where you will learn to question accepted notions and interpretations of women’s positions in society, as well as to explore the ways in which we view the world according to gender. An understanding of women and gender has become an important asset that can be offered to potential employers. Combined with another discipline, graduates bring a unique background to positions in labour relations, government and the private sector, education, health and counselling, community service, law, the arts and the media.
