|Description:||The Music program gives students a thorough grounding in the four fundamental areas of music instruction – theory, general musicianship, history and performance – and allows them to focus on specific areas of interest, such as music education, history or theory.
The Music Cognition program provides music students the opportunity to explore exciting new research into how music is perceived in the brain and how it intersects with other aspects of intellectual development. The educational applications of these discoveries will also be considered.

Applicants are required to have at least six Grade 12 U/M level courses, including: ENG4U.
Students who have been asked to meet McMaster’s English Language Proficiency requirement must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving the minimum requirements as specified by McMaster: IELTS: 6.5, CAE: 176, PTE: 60, CAEL: 70, MELAB: 85, TOEFL (iBT): 86

Before an offer of admission into the Music program is granted, applicants will need to come to the University for an audition. The audition consists of three tests: aural, performance and theory tests.
